Anita Stewart tagged me in this Facebook challenge to list to list ten books that have had an influence on me, my writing, etc. I know I could list more, but I think these books (and/or authors) had the biggest influence on my writing over the years: 1) The Lord of the Rings -- J.R.R. Tolkien (because, well...Tolkien) 2) The Rusalka Trilogy -- Cj Cherryh (taught me so much about character) 3) Interview with a Vampire -- Anne Rice (taught me about description) 4) The Crystal Griffon -- Andre Norton (anything but the Witches...) 5) The Anything Box -- Zenna Henderson (any People stories) 6) The Halloween Tree -- Ray Bradbury (anything, but this is a favorite) 7) The Stand -- Stephen King (taught me about horror and suspense) 8) The Count of Monte Cristo -- Dumas (building a comprehensive society) 9) The Prisoner of Zenda -- (first book I finished and started over immediately) 10) Tales from Shakespeare -- Charles & Mary Lamb (intro to the Bard) This was fun. Such a tiny subsection of my list...lol Tagging: Wynelda- Ann Deaver, Mel White, Eden Royce, Rhonda Eudaly Simpson, Rhonda Parrish, Karen MacInerney Dont feel obligated to play, but it makes you think. :)
