Annie is originally from Virginia, but was buried in Warrenton, NC before being relocated. Hope this helps someone in their search. Annie Carter Lees former grave site, Warrenton North Carolina. Her body was exhumed in 2004 and relocated to the family plot in Virginia after locals pushed over her grave marker and it was damaged. Residents of Warren County raised over $4000 to repair the monument and have left it erected in her memory. Annie Lee and her sisters were sent to White Sulfur Springs (Warrenton) to wait out the Civil War. She developed typhoid fever in 1862 and perished here. ANNE C. LEE, DAUGHTER OF GENERAL R. E.
