Announcement: Downtown Photo Walk/Social Event – Anderson SC - Thursday Mar 20 3:30 PM Craig Johnson is leading a photo walk-about to photograph interesting architectural features of 1920s-1930s and fountains. If weather and sky co-operate, we will focus on fast changing light values and colorations. We can eat at one of our local downtown eateries. We have plenty of good ones. We are looking to have magnificent weather for our first photo walk-about. Temperature at 3:30 PM is scheduled to be 72, sunny, with no chance of rain – perfect. We will meet at 3:30 PM by the obelisk (Confederate Memorial) in front of the ‘new’ county courthouse and wander from there on foot. 617-9190 for details about meeting places and weather related changes. I don’t anticipate any changes. It seems to me there are plenty of people who want to learn how to make better use of their cameras. People can take far better photos with their cameras if they learn some minimal basics. The best way to take good photos is to take photos, lots of them. With digital that is a no-cost proposition. A way to take pictures with a minimal amount of guidance and no intimidation is to wander around locally on 2-3 hour photo walks. Those with more advanced cameras and tripods and working knowledge can tag along for the socialization as much as anything. Those with simple point and shoot cameras can come along and get some pointers. Beginners can watch those shooting manually and setting up their shots create magic. Seeing the possibilities might just inspire some of us to embrace the art of photography more fully. Most important is to simply have a good time, socialize, and enjoy our guild, perhaps sharing a meal following. Craig Johnson will facilitate these walks in conjunction with his course at Anderson University and for Anderson Artist Guild members who wish to participate.
