Announcement from Church Hill Theatre: AUDITIONS ANNOUNCEMENT! Auditions for Blood Brothers, with book, music and lyrics by Willy Russell, will be on August 17 at Church Hill Theatre and August 18 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Church Hill. Auditions are scheduled from 2 - 6 pm August 17 at CHT, and 6 - 8 pm August 18 at St. Luke’s Parish Hall (near the theatre on Main Street in Church Hill). Callbacks will be August 19 from 6 - 8 pm at CHT. Those auditioning should prepare 32 measures of Broadway material and bring sheet music for the accompanist. Actors will also read from the script and, at August 19 callbacks, will sing and read from the script. CHT also invites musicians, stage hands and technicians for Blood Brothers to join us. Set in Britain, the story is based on the 1844 novella The Corsican Brothers by Alexander Dumas and centers on fraternal twins separated at birth. One brother is raised in a family of wealth and privilege; the other in poverty. Despite these differences and their mother’s interference, they become best friends until a misunderstanding leads to tragedy. Each actor who plays one of the twins, Mickey and Eddie, portrays them from age 7-30. Mickey should be a baritone; Eddie, a tenor. The Narrator, who tracks the storys context, should be a tenor. The actress who plays Mrs. Johnson, the twins’ natural mother, should be in her early 20’s to 40’s and a strong mezzo soprano. Mrs. Lyons, Eddies adoptive mother, should also be a mezzo soprano. The role of Mrs. Lyons’ husband requires a baritone solo. There are supporting roles, particularly Sammy (Mickey’s brother) and Linda, the girlfriend, and a chorus of six-to-eight actors who play cameo roles and should sing well in harmony.
