Anonymous I was in a young unhealthy relationship. My girlfriend developed an addiction to methamphetamine. We went separate ways and heard through mutual friends that she was pregnant. I also heard she was still smoking speed and other criminal activities. She had the baby in prison. While she was incarcerated for drug use and GTA, I managed to get a paternity test. He was mine, so I went to see a lawyer the next day. I had full custody by the next week. From 5 months until his 8th birthday, I raised my son without any family or help. It wasnt always easy. I was in my mid 20s with low paying jobs. My career began to take off and I was able to make a decent life for us. I bought a new 3000sqft home in a great area and had a great life. Without even being served, while I was in the hospital for a medical emergency, his mother lied in court and my son was taken from me. His mother didnt even have to pay the filing fees. I spent every penny I had fighting, but the court kept requiring me to pay more and more for evaluations and investigations. I would drive 100 miles for supervised visits for my son and his mom just wouldnt show up with him. She is still unemployed, living with her grandmother, while my son shares a room with three other people. Due to her record of drug felonies, she is unable and unwilling to work. Despite supporting my son his whole life without help, the court is forcing me to pay her $950 per month. I am now losing my home, driving a car without tags and insurance, and my life has been destroyed. I have no criminal record, and a documented history of being nothing but a great dad. I received a letter containing a judgement that I am restrained from her and my son from 5 years. I wasnt even served!! It has been almost two years since Ive seen my son. Nobody is listening, nobody will help, nobody cares.
