Anonymous Question: Any advice with coping with the chronic fatigues and holding down a full time job. Have lost my life to keeping energy levels for work. I go to bed when I get home and rest all weekend. Need to work to pay the bills. But have lost my life! HMSA Answer: Pacing can be very difficult when working full time, but things like: regularly moving about (every 20 mins or so), having a desk set-up which encourages good posture, always taking a proper lunch break (I had permission to go and nap in the first aid room), letting colleagues know about your situation so they can give a hand when needed (lifting, carrying etc) and (this is difficult!) trying to find a way to do something active regularly (like swimming or pilates) because improving fitness levels can help with fatigue. (Hannah Ensor) There are some useful discussion on the HMSA forums here regarding work and pacing. hypermobility.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11216&hilit=fatigue%2C+pacing#p180621 hypermobility.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12356&hilit=pacing
