Another NYE show has come to a close. This year, in the days leading up to the show, it seemed as if my energy level was low. Then, the day and moments leading up to show time, my nerves take over. I try to have five minutes of quiet time and THINK. I think about how we never know what the future holds. What if there was a day when I couldnt sing or impersonate someone? Would I have any regrets about my last performance? Did I give it everything I had? Then, its almost show time. Curtain hasnt gone up, yet....but everyone is in place. Im standing on the side of the stage, looking....and still thinking. I try to absorb every detail and I realize that Ive been on a stage for most of my life..and Ive loved music my entire life....and its what I know. However, I am still amazed at how nervous and different I am when I sing as myself, compared to putting on a wig and impersonating someone. When the Rock & Roll portion of the show starts, Im as excited as a kid on Christmas Day. Part of the fun are the quick changes. Before I know it, that portion of the show is over. Little Miss Baylee came tonight. She wanted to go backstage. I took her to the quick change dressing room. She just looked around with those big brown eyes. She picked out her favorite dress from the show. Then, I took her to the real dressing room. All of the lights were on around the mirrors. Now, maybe...just maybe Aint Tay-rah was hoping to create a memory for her or a curiosity of what being on stage is like. :) I am blessed to be surrounded by a great group of people that Travis & I refer to as our Opry Family. I am thankful for the past two reunion shows. Not only does it give us an opportunity to perform, but it allows us to stay in touch with each other. Every person on stage tonight has a talent that fits like the perfect puzzle piece and makes the Goldie Show what it is. A special thank you to Goldie and the Backstage Band for giving this girl another opportunity to do what I love. Happy New Year! Im finally going to bed!
