Another early morning for me. So I shall be a little philosophical . For the first time in over 50 years, I have gotten to watch Spring happen. Ive always been at work or school when Spring showed up. I misled the subtle changes from apparently dead trees into limegreen confections whispering in the wind. Theres nothing quite like Spring green. It has a new look about it. Soft ,shiny. I had forgotten how beautiful it was. Behind my house there is a stand of elm trees. Almost overnight, they have gone from dead branches to line green dots against the blue sky. They look like lime sherbet. I look forward to when they begin to shed those little seedlings and the true Green leaves appear. The dogs and I went out into the backyard this afternoon. The water was running and little lakes were springing up . The grass was that baby shade of green . Precious ran with abandon across grass and splashed his way through the lakes . All the dogs loved being out . Ill put out chairs eventually . Hopefully the pecan trees will leaf out enough for shade. Im going to sit out there on some of those perfect days and remember what it was like to have total freedom . I dont have to work . Those days are done unless I choose to do so . While the minutes of my life are ticking faster, the days just got longer . I have time to reflect , to enjoy, that I never had while I was working every day , those 12 and 14 hour days . I can watch Spring happen .
