Another innocent victim of vehicular terrorism. We turn our country upside down and spy on our grandmother when we incur a foreign terror attack -- and maybe we should -- but just shrug as hundreds PER DAY are slaughtered on the streets outside our homes, on our way to/from work and as our children drive to school or are out with friends. Just another example of our collective penchant for disregarding the clear and imminent dangers right in front of us while imagining all sort of unknown evil out there somewhere. No one in my family has ever been killed or maimed by a foreign terrorist but I was nearly killed at age 3 along with my parents, aunt, and cousin by a drunk driver who thought drag racing on the highway was a good idea. My mom was then nearly killed a few hundred yards from her driveway by a drunk driver who ran a stop sign. And, recently, my son was run over from behind while sitting at a stop light by a middle-age professional woman who was texting & driving. A car in the hands of an irresponsible driver is far more dangerous than a loaded firearm and we dont attempt to do nearly enough to keep dangerous drivers off of our roads. Yes, Ive been one of those drivers in my past but I made the commitment years ago that it would NEVER happen again. So should you!
