Another part of life: Watched Monument Men last night..was deeply dissappointed in the craft of the work. Clearly Cloony is a brilliant actor but an unskilled director. His heart is in the right place but what an amazingly boring piece of work. But...that being so...this might lead him further into a shift in careers to politics..where his talent and presence is much needed. But George...warning...such a move is gonna test your ever-present seeming serenity to the max. Also watched Kill Bill...one long bloody Quentin joke but Lucy Liu is stunning as ever....and then Inglourious Basterds...Christophe Waltzs performance is even more stupendous the second time around. There is an actor of such immense talent...it hurts! For actors out there...and I am sure you noticed...his secondary business with loading his fountain pen or enjoying his milk is an actors fantasy. The man is in command of so many tracks of thought and action simultaneously...Patrick Stewart would suggest the man has to get brain fever! In Basterds, watching Waltz is like watching Dr. J or Michael or Magic...or Muhammed Ali or JFK, or Sandy Koufax...we know we are in the presence of greatness. Just a brief respite from poltics...thought I would share. It wont happen much. jgh
