Another round of Belarus-EU visa talks will be held in Brussels next week. The statement was made by the Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and OSCE of the European External Action Service Gunnar Wiegand who recently paid a visit to the Belarusian capital. The meeting was part of the fourth round of Belarus-EU consultations on modernization. One of the issues discussed during the visit of the OSCE representative was the issue of political prisoners and human rights activists - a stumbling block in Belarus-EU relations for many years. Answering the question about how the bilateral relations can develop in case the Belarusian authorities refuse to set political prisoners free, Gunnar Wiegand said that the EU is now seeking those areas where cooperation between the parties can evolve anyway.
