Another step in the creation of digital administration digital. Responsible Declarations for the opening of ‘harmless’ business in the municipality can now be processed through the municipal web page. The Town Hall remains focused on being more efficient and bringing the administration closer to the citizens. Now, entrepreneurs who want to start a business may apply for a license to open, through the process of the Responsible Declaration, through the municipal website. “Unfortunately, the ‘Junta’ is one of the few regional governments in Spain asking for environmental certificates for certain businesses”, said Town Planning Councillor, Manuel Navarro. “Therefore, only offices, clothing shops and commerces of this type can benefit from this procedure, as they are what is considered harmless activities”, said the Councillor, who added, “to be able to carry out the process of the Responsible Declaration, they must be businesses whose customer service areas do not excede 500 m2”. Thus, businesses that meet these specifications will have it easier to start to work; in fact, with the Responsible Declaration, they can communicate small refurbishment works or changes of ownership. “There are no better job creators than than the small and medium businesses; therefore, with this measure, we give greater momentum, efficiency and speed, which is what entrepreneurs require in order to be able to open their businesses legally, with all legal guarantees and create jobs”, stated the councillor. Accessing the Web Once we are on the mijas.es page, access the Electronic Office section and then ‘Licencia Express-Aperturas’. However, before anything can be done, “prior to applying for the document, citizens are required, to have the Digital Certificate for this online management system”, stated the Coordinator for New Technologies and Online Services, Jorge Soler. Moreover, it is a process that can be performed by the administrative agencies and offers tax advice to citizens through the portal. The procedure will be completed once the pertinent fees are paid. “Mijas is getting closer to having a municipality that works in line with the new technologies”, Soler said, adding that the measure “saves time, paper and money for the Town Hall, not to mention the citizens, who can streamline their procedures”. This action is included in the Municipal Plan for Electronic Modernisation, with a budget of 350.000 euros. The first phase is already completed, and is related to the Department for Citizen Services who have created the Electronic Register, while the second, which is still ongoing, involves the creation of municipal web tools that enable citizens to carry out their Town Planning procedures.
