Another vinyl arrived today - The reissue of Deaths Spiritual Healing. I was a bit surprised at the sheer volume of items that were contained in it... First off, it is a box set... Let me repeat that... A box set.. of one album. That is pretty unusual for starters. Contained within the inch thick box were 2 records - both in blue/red vinyl. One was within the standard Spiritual Healing album cover of yesteryear; the second was contained within a cover displaying the mock up artwork which was done before the album was made. Also, a huge double sided poster (one side with the mock up art, the other the final art), a gate-fold insert with the lyrics and band photos, and finally a slip-mat with the album artwork on it. Oh...and a badge... Man... I wasnt expecting it to be so intricate and detailed. The first record has all the original recordings, so essentially that record and its cover are the re-issue verbatim. The second record that came in the mock up artwork cover is all the rehearsals, alternative takes, jams etc that occurred during that recording process - stuff that has never really been heard before as far as I know. Very impressed with this release, as this album was a big part of my teenage years. I loved this album, and enjoyed it almost every day for about 2 years running. Still ranks in my top 50 albums of all time Id guess. Stoked beyond words. Limited to 500 copies worldwide.... released September 26th. Comes with a download code to get the FLAC or MP3 versions of the album, so I should be able to enjoy it without even needing to play the vinyl.
