Antanio Alvares: As per the law, ignorance of the law is no excuse and person who so ever committed the crime is still punishable as per the relevant laws. The onus of knowing the law lies with each one of us. Yesterday, deep in night one esteemed member called me up after seeing your post on Goa where you continued to make assertion that Goa was annexed as per SC ruling. He wanted to lodge a police complaint against you under Sec 153A. However I reasoned with him and suggested that he think over it as I do not want Goa, a place of people highly educated, most secular and tolerant to get the bad name of highest numbers of FIR over FB posts. Hope the esteemed member desists from temptation to proceed legally against you. However let me opine my views on the posts and its content. Your post has merits prime facie to attract the following sections of IPC, 124A, read with Sec 121, Sec 120, Sec 123, Sec 107, Sec 193, Sec 505 & Sec 504. Besides your misrepresentation of SC ruling will attract its own sections. Some of these sections are non-bailable and refer to sedition. But all is not that bad. There is a sliver lining on the clouds. Some of these sections can be initiated by Govt only and not by citizens. However, given the way things actually are here if some member out of his relation with police or otherwise, does files a case, and presuming that police does deicide to proceed further with investigation, you are liable to sought for police or judicial custody that may last from 5 months, say at the best to worst 3 years... but I am hopeful that case will be dismissed as only Govt can initiate some of these section. Hence I advise strongly that brace and be in know of the law. I also believe that what you are saying is your opinion and not factual statement as portrayed in your post. Hence it will be good legally if you menation all that you do, but do add In my opinion, / I think, / In my view etc. Constitution guarantees you right to opinion. NOT MISREPRESENTATION.
