Any archivists or preservation specialists in this group? I work - TopicsExpress

Any archivists or preservation specialists in this group? I work in the Special Collections room of my public library, and we are wanting to do a display for about a week coming up possibly involving some really cool glass lantern slides. The slides would all be kept in a locked case, but what were not sure about is how they might be affected (damaged?) by prolonged exposure to light. We keep them currently in a closed box inside of our climate controlled Closed Stacks room, but if we displayed them, theyd be under fluorescent lights that dont turn off for the entire week. My Google-fu has turned up all kinds of information about proper storage methods, but nothing specifically about how/if they might be damaged by light exposure. Obviously, we dont want to damage them, and wont put them out if doing so would cause harm. Does anyone have any experience or expertise in this arena? Thanks!
