Any one ever been the target of the Farb police?? (how I FF-ing hate that word). well, read something today which utterly disgusted me. A young family, just joining us in our great hobby of re-enactment/living history (yup, I know, there are those that would like to shoot me now for even contemplating putting these 2 catagories together in one sentence) were branded as being Farbs today. yup, they wore modern spectacles, they did not have proper shoes. They probably had their cell phones in one of their should not have internal coat pockets............well, it was their third event. In fact it was the wifes first event as well for the children. The clothing they wore would be concidered main stream. There were comments like; they should have walked bare foot, they should have bought such and such, cheap glasses that would look alright. (look alright??!!!). My point? well, my point is that the comments are all probably valid, no platic spectacles would have been available nor rubber sandals etc etc. its just that I am utterly disgusted by the way people treat other people here on FB and any other place just on for example, one picture. its so easy and cheap to burn people down to the ground instead of standing up and have a constructive talk with them. might be because the people who yell FARB the loudest never attend events. probably because of the many farbs attending. well, my comming out: I am a FARB! And do I care? Yes I do. Ive been doing the re-enactment thing (leaning on Living history) for 10 years now. In those 10 years I have been trying to improve on all aspects of MY hobby. Uniform edition 3 is in the making, making a new sash because the other one (which cost me a lot) isnt right, buying original swords and guns because the replicas are just not it. etc etc etc. I still am a FARB. And probably will stay a FARB. No, I wont leave my cell at home because there might be an emergency, no I wont sleep on the ground each and every event I attend because after the weekend every day life continues and work needs to be done. YES!!! I AM A FARB!! Judge me if you will because of posting this. maybe I will lose some FB friends or likes on my other page. this is what I stand for, respect each other, help each other and TALK to each other.
