Any probability PhDs or math geniuses willing to tackle an alleged paradox? Seven of us at work debated this for 2 hours in the afternoon today and still cant come to a consensus. Youre a playing a game on a show. The host choose two real numbers, writes each on a slip of paper, and puts them into two boxes. You choose one box and look at the number inside. You are then asked to guess whether the number in the second box is larger or smaller than the one you just looked at. The kicker is: there is a strategy that allegedly gives you more than 50% of guessing correctly.
