Any true musician can relate with me on this... Regardless of whether youre playing for 7 people or 700 people, you still have to put on the best possible show you can. One of those 7 people could give you a big break. Looking out at an empty bar, many thoughts go through your head- Why am I doing this? This is a waste of time. I could make more money sitting at home on my couch. Where are all my friends that I thought were so supportive of me? But regardless of all those things in the back of your mind, what matters is being in the moment and playing your heart out. You never know when a song you play is going to touch someone, make them dance, bring them to tears, or just make their day a little bit better. As a musician, I wont ever forget that someone is always going to be there to listen. Sing and play whats in your heart, and in that you will find the answer to why you dont mind living out of an empty tip jar.
