Anyone want to claim responsibility for the ad posted on Craigslist, with my number in it, a little while ago? Caller (sounds drunk, not even lunchtime yet): Hi, Im calling about your ad on craigslist about the free mer-say-dees. I really need it. Im single. Im a single mommmmmmm. Me: Im not giving away a free mercedes. Caller: But this is 863***2064 right? Me: Yes, must have been a typo. Sorry about that. Caller: whyd you put up an ad saying youre giving out a free mercedes with YOUR phone number on it if youre not giving away a mercedes? I got kids. I dont got a car. I need your car. I need a nice one fur my kids and sh*% Me: Im not giving away a car. Sorry. Caller: Well whyddd you go making a Craigslist for then. I got kids and sh*%. What am I sposed ta do? You need ta give me sumfthin cuz you shouldnt have put up that ad if you werent gonna give me the free mersaydees. What do you got to give me? What cars do you got... 15 phone calls in 2 hours and ALL of them told me their story: why they needed the benz AFTER I told them I wasnt giving one away and EVERY ONE OF THEM got mad as heck AT ME. Once I realized someone got me I actually respected the prank and took all the calls: gave all the people the chance to act mannerly and plead their case and then yell at me like a caravan mechanic when it finally sunk in-REALLY sunk in- that they werent getting a car. You know what, I dont need to know who did it: ALL 2000 of you on this list can consider yourselves in trouble. All of you. Big bunch of dingbats.
