Apologies for the long silence.The sliced left ankle which resulted from having the motorbike fall on it almost three weeks is healing well but not able to ride the bike even though willing to. It does seem sensible to put the bike aside for awhile and concentrate on the ‘new’ truck. And it will take concentration since it’s a 20 year old vehicle with a history of abuse by a disgruntled wife. Nice new paint job though . . . see pix. Perforce I’m walking everywhere, slowly and carefully, and renting a car only one day a week to go to the Preserve to check on Nunki who seems to be doing just fine, thank you. Also pursuing a new oil cooler for the tractor, hoping Massey Ferguson dealer in Florida will reply soon. Finally got to really look over the truck (last week it was towed to our vehicle guru Frankie) and it was good to note that the seats are not bad at all. A small bit of fill in the outside edge of the driver seat, two big beach towels, and they will be fine. Then sat behind the wheel and looked around. Being a boat person, I noticed that the left door trim and left side of the dashboard are a nice, bright red. How clever! Then I noticed that the right door trim and the right dashboard are green. Even more clever, Port and Starboard, yes? No. The middle of the dashboard is yellow, = the colors of the Haitian flag. Maybe her name has to be Tap Tap, the name for a Haitian bus. Also, the shift lever has a fancy paint job with the same colors only right now it is broken off the gear box. Hopefully the gear box will be in this week.The left door sticks (not original), gate needs some work, but Im praying its only the gear box for now. Will be so good to have wheels again. No more running 50 lb. bags of dog food 30 miles on the bike in rain and mud. Meanwhile, Jean and Avener are holding the fort wile I can only make once a week trips. Rentals are expensive! Planning to go up this coming Sunday and will have a report and more pix then. Aaaand, next week, Meghan Balogh arrives! She’s done a lot of the wonderful photography and video work for Nunki that you have seen, this is her third trip here and it’s going to be great to see her again. It’s a kind of working honeymoon for her and Adam.
