Apostolicity, reflecting fatherhood “Chesed” – a Hebrew - TopicsExpress

Apostolicity, reflecting fatherhood “Chesed” – a Hebrew word denoting the depths of the kindness and mercy, which will be found during a journey into the heart of God. Few men dare such a quest. But the one who do, will return as a man sent from Heaven for the sake of bringing heavenly clarity and brilliance, bringing a reflection of the crucified God. Already amidst our weariness, these words from the prophet are to be substantiated by the appearing of men of heavenly caliber: “Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and rulers shall rule in judgment. And a man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a shelter from the tempest, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. Isa 32:1-2 Apostolicity does not waver, apostolicity does not mislead or deceive. Holiness cannot be moved or manipulated. The apostolic man, the man sent from Heaven, gathers confidence and he can be trusted as he is trained for fatherhood. He does not allow himself to be “tossed to and fro and carried about by every wind of doctrine”. He never generates winds which toss men hither and thither, to be driven by desire and vanity. Truth is an eternal value, which defines fatherhood and which rests at the core of apostolicity. Fatherhood does not manipulate, it never lends itself to anyone who runs with manipulation. Fatherhood is at any given moment set to covenantal trustworthiness – not only in technical terms, but being undergirded by the warmest of warmth, as “chesed”. The sent man, the apostolic man never cares for the title. His is a rare pursuit of the very heart of God. His is a journey into the heart of the Lord. His is a longing for proper expressions of the mind of Christ. Fatherhood, apostolicity engages eternal values – veracity, humility and the kindness and mercy condensed in a small Hebrew word – “chesed”. Lars Widerberg
