Apparently, Bravo is coming out with a new reality show called Untying the Knot, which will show real couples going through mediation. Heres the thing, though: one of main advantages to Mediation or other Alternative Dispute Resolutions is PRIVACY. Since you and your spouse hash out the terms of your agreement out of court and without the filing of detailed motions and affidavits, your business stays out of the public. This means that (with the exception of the completed agreement), no additional information is available for your friends, relatives or even children to look up in the future. There will be no mention of financial woes, of infidelity or of abuse in any public documents, as those and other private issues all stay within the confines of your meetings with the Mediator. Hopefully this show wont turn people off to the idea of Mediation, as it is a very successful option for many people.
