Apparently, I suffered from existential depression frequently throughout my developmental period. Nobody told me that. I thought moping around, questioning my lifes purpose and talking to my own Waldens pond was just growing up. You mean to tell me I was suffering from a clinically recognized disorder? I demand that any class I made less than an A in be changed immediately to compensate me for my inability to cope with the answers to lifes greatest questions. Seriously though, the article said that existential depression in young people is a precursor to suicide. Because thats not a scare tactic by any means, nor is it lacking solid consequential evidence. I suffered from it. Its called thinking. Sit down, think, and when youve thought long enough, everything seems pointless. Woohoo. Youre not gifted, youre not depressed, youre a human being.
