Apparently the West is supportive of the overthrow of a democratically elected government in the Ukraine and willing to throw money to support its unelected replacement. Subsequently, the mainly Russian population in Crimea were offered a referendum by Russia to rejoin that country (Ukraine left it in the 1950s) and the motion in the referendum was supported by the majority of the people there - I think thats called democracy. HOWEVER the West doesnt like this kind of democracy so for starters theyre going to slap sanctions on selected Russian individuals. Perhaps, for the sake of consistency, the UK should slap sanctions on Alex Salmond if the Scots choose to leave the United Kingdom in their referendum later this year..=)
