Appeal denied for San Fernando Valley armed robber who shot at Glendale cops LOS ANGELES — The California Supreme Court refused today to hear the case against a man convicted of a series of armed robberies in the San Fernando Valley. The state’s highest court denied a defense petition seeking its review of the case against David Cesar Santos, who was found guilty in October 2012 of six counts of second-degree robbery and one count each of assault on a peace officer and attempted second-degree robbery involving the crimes between November 2010 and June 2011. Santos and co-defendant Christopher Rosalio Morales were arrested in June 2011 after an undercover Glendale police detective saw them rob a man. They jumped in a Chrysler PT Cruiser after spotting a Glendale police sergeant and an officer, and Santos was wounded when police opened fire after he rammed the vehicle into the police car. Santos was sentenced in November 2012 to 20 years in prison. In July, a three-justice panel from California’s 2nd District Court of Appeal upheld his conviction. Morales pleaded no contest to seven counts of second-degree robbery and one count of attempted second-degree robbery.
