Talking of smooth, the passport website asks you, at the time of submission, whether you would like to enroll for sms alerts to know the status of your application. It tells you, its going to cost you Rs 30. Hmmm.. why? Then you notice the small print. It tells you that by subscribing to these sms alerts, you are agreeing to being texted promotional stuff- from the passport office and their partners- DND or not. Brazen as brazen can be- who thought of this? Who wants to pay Rs 30 for the privilege of being marketed to (spammed)?
