Are there in-core conflict between IHL and Shariaa law? No. - TopicsExpress

Are there in-core conflict between IHL and Shariaa law? No. Islam roams around the protection of the innocent and values human life. This has been affirmed in the Quraan and in many subsequent instances in Islamic history. For example, In Islam, Abu Bakr the first Muslim Caliph gave an order to Osama bin Zaid, the leader of an army heading towards the Levant, in which he said: “You shall not betray, deceive or mutilate, nor kill a minor or an elderly man or a woman. Do not cut down palm trees or any fruit trees. Do not slaughter a sheep, cow or camel except for feeding yourselves.” These principles are also at the core of IHL. A holistic approach to IHL shows that it revolves around preserving human rights and dignity, as well as distinguishing between combatants and civilians. This is clearly stated in the Holy Quran in two verses: “And surely We have honoured the children of Adam” (17:70) and “Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors”
