Are we really independent????? What with the corrupt politicians ruling the roost...........at best we can say that we are independent albeit only from the Britishers ......We still hv a long way to go.....before we can party and celebrate our independence....so really nothing great worth celebrating and shouting from the roof tops.....rather around 70 years wasted........by these dhoti clad rogues.........otherwise we would hv been second to none by now......Rather we should lower our heads in shame that we are living in the so called Worlds largest democracy.....where the level of corruption is the highest....the divide inflicted by the politicians has been much greater than that of Britishers with much wider ramifications....today our country is divided along physical borders of states, religion,caste,sub caste,economic status and blah blah.......Nobody is safe ,lest of all women......there is widespread economic disparity....little to speak about on public health and welfare programs ....Why and what are we trying to celebrate.......Billions of dollars stashed away in Swiss banks by the politicians.....the golden hand shake between politicians and the big corporates who are out there to milk the public dry.......Just putting the national flag as our fb and whats app profile pics or getting together in our societies, clubs and welfare associations to celebrate independence day is just a ritual.....Does it serve any purpose????? The real heroes who sacrificed their lives have nvr got their place in the golden annals of our history which has been hogged by just a few people who were not really responsible for the Britishers retreat (I dont want to take any names here....all are aware)....Even the children of this country are not safe...with heinous crimes such as rapes of girls as young as a a couple of years or eve less happening every other day......The law is only for the poor, the rich and influential know their way out.......the poor and the middle income group is struggling to make the two ends meet what with hefty inflation to combat........Our country is a wreck......and we are celebrating Independence day with so much frenzy without pondering WHY........does it really call for a celebration.... .Unless each and every citizen of this country awakens to his duties.....and comes together to raise their voice and force these Netas to put the house in order, we are a nation of sleeping people.......God Bless us.....and awaken us from this slumber.
