Are you an agricultural producer or small business in our area who is interested in making energy efficient improvements or the possibility of installing solar panels to offset energy costs? Please have them contact Joel Howard at 731-668-2091 ext. 102 or email at [email protected]. RENEWABLE ENERGY FOR AMERICA PROGRAM (REAP) Grants Fact Sheet - Tennessee (USDA Program) I. Overview ”REAP” offers grants, guaranteed loans, and combination grant/guaranteed loans to help agricultural producers and rural small businesses purchase and install renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvements in rural areas. II. Who is eligible Agricultural Producer (individual or entity) directly engaged in the production of agricultural products and obtains at least 50% or greater of their gross income from their agriculture business. Small Business (individual or an entity is considered a small business in accordance with SBA’s (Small Business Administration) small business size standards (by NAICS codes). SBA small size standards can be found at sba.gov/size/index.html III. What areas are eligible The following link can be utilized to access the eligibility of your project’s location: eligibility.sc.egov.usda.gov/eligibility/welcomeAction.do Tennessee’s allocation will be $337,000 for the fiscal year. This competition does not include Farm Bill funding. Farm Bill 2014 Funds will be added together with Farm Bill 2015 Funds for REAP and will be set up in two competitions in October 2014 and April 2015. There will be approximately $2,415,000 in REAP grant allocation in Tennessee available in the Fall of 2014 and Spring of 2015. We can roll over any unsuccessful applications from this NOFA to the Fall so we encourage you to go ahead and submit for this round of funding. We encourage you to contact one of our offices to start working on your REAP Energy Efficiency or Renewable Energy application soon.
