Its as if the stars are consistently working in a natural rhythm with us here on earth. Life cycles happen every so many years and of the major life cycles none is more so upsetting as the mid life crisis for some folks and in astrological terms, the Uranus opposition. For many years, the average period of the mid life crisis was age 40 to 45. Thats how long the transit lasted but the planet Uranus has a unique and inconsistent pattern and some folks are starting their mid life crisis a little earlier now, in their 30s. In my astrological practice, I have seen most clients start at age 40, and then hit another bump around 42. Age 44 seems to the most challenging and then by the end of the 45th year, the crazy energy dies down. But you don’t have to be in your mid life crisis to experience the planet Uranus and its effects on your life. Right now it is in the sign of Aries and wherever Aries is in your chart is where you will experience unexpected change. Expect the unexpected, sudden twists and turns and definite changes will occur for you because of this transit. Some of you may have already had some changes while others will soon feel the effects. Wherever Uranus is visiting, it changes something. For transits to the house of marriage in a chart, if a person is single, by the time Uranus ends its visit, he or she will either be married or in a major life changing relationship. Go into an Uranus transit to the second house of your chart with little money, you would end up a millionaire by the time Uranus has come and gone. Uranus can upset things too but rest assured no matter good or bad, Uranus does change things. The Uranus opposition a.k.a. mid life crisis is like clockwork though for many clients I read for. Women call whose husbands are acting funny or having an affair and I can pretty much bet its right about this period in life. Or theres a huge career shift at this point. Women feel like they want to make big changes in their lives if they have been stuck in dead end situations and most women feel the empty nest syndrome as their kids go off to college or move out. Lots of people get cosmetic surgery too around this time. Uranus is a planet of change. When it comes back to oppose someones Uranus in their own personal astrological/natal chart this can create a strong need to break free from the life theyve build for themselves even if theyve been happy with that life for years before. You are not young but you are not old is a major thought now and one craves excitement, romance, new opportunities and no restrictions. You want to be free to do whatever you want to do. Sometimes you do not know what you want but you just know you want something different. For other people the Uranus opposite makes them feel like they are going to explode if they dont do something new with their lives. This energy within draws new experiences and new people and yes sometimes, new relationships to them. I always tell clients when you are going through a mid life crisis/Uranus opposition do not make important life changing decisions you are unsure about because you would later regret them when this cycle is over and say oh my gosh, what did I do? But Uranus does serve purpose in our life; it forces us to break free from bad and prohibitive situations weve built around us. Uranus is about change and change for the most part is good when we make logical well-calculated choices. Uranus shows us where we are needing change, where we need to be true to ourselves and honor a new path, new direction etc. Some people see their greatest successes in life during their mid life crisis while others make mistakes they later regret. But with any change, there is a higher reason for it. Uranus reveals what aspects of our selves need to change to create a better life. Every guy will not end their marriage and buy a red sports car and date a 20 year old but many guys and girls will be make a major change in their direction. Uranus shows us what needs to change and pushes us sometimes unmercilessly to make changes for our higher good. Uranus also changes our belief systems and our ideals. So hold tight. You dont have to mess up your life. But you do have to recognize that something is missing.
