Course Structure Core Units • Assemble, set up and test personal computers • Use engineering applications software • Apply OHS practices in the workplace • Dismantle, assemble and fabricate electrotechnology components • Use drawings, diagrams, schedules and manuals • Develop design briefs for electrotechnology projects • Solve problems in complex multiple path circuits • Document occupational hazards and risks in electronics • Participate in development and follow a personal competency development plan • Identify effects of energy on machinery and materials in an electrotechnology environment • Undertake computations in an electrotechnology environment • Troubleshoot d.c. power supplies with single phase input • Troubleshoot digital subsystems Troubleshoot basic amplifiers • Solve fundamental problems in electronic communications systems • Solve problems in electronic circuits • Design and develop electronics/computer systems projects Plus 3 of the following stream core units must be completed • Manage workplace information systems • Ensure Team Effectiveness • Maintain documentation • Source and purchase material/parts for installation or service jobs • Provide quotations for installation or service jobs • Deliver a service to customers • Use basic computer applications relevant to a workplace • Provide basic instruction in the use of electrotechnology apparatus Elective Units The successful completion of elective units is required to enable you to gain the qualification.
