Are you interested in volunteering for Estacada Rural Fire District? We have several ways you can volunteer. Below is a short description of our different volunteer opportunities. Volunteer firefighters respond to all types of alarms with the fire district, including: Structure Fires, Wildland Fires, Car Accidents, Medical Calls and Special Rescue Calls. The Combat Firefighter program requires about 200 hours of initial training over a 6 month period. After the initial academy the requirements are to earn 30 points for response and 18 for training every quarter. Points are awarded for attending calls, standing by at the fire station or attending training. This translates into about 16-20 hours per month. We currently are looking for 21 Combat Firefighters who live in our Fire District. Fire Corps volunteers are our support group. The time commitment is less but they still play a vital role in the organization. They respond to major incidents such as structure fires to provide rehabilitation services to our firefighters, they perform public education, assist with photography, provide help in our administration office, direct traffic and many other functions. The initial training is only 16 hours! After the initial academy the requirements are to earn 10 points for response and 6 for training every quarter. Points are awarded for attending calls, standing by at the fire station or attending training. This translates into about 6-12 hours per month. We currently are looking for 6 new Fire Corps members. EMS volunteers are members who are Physician Assistants, Nurses, or EMTs who want to respond only on medical calls. Medical calls make up about 70% of our calls for service. The initial training is only 16 hours! After the initial academy the requirements are to earn 10 points for response and 6 for training every quarter. Points are awarded for attending calls, standing by at the fire station or attending training. This translates into about 6-12 hours per month. We are currently looking for 1 more EMS volunteer. Chaplains are members who provide aid to firefighters, their families and the public during times of need. They can be of any religious background. It is the responsibility of the Chaplains to provide guidance and counseling to all members of the department and the public, upon request. The guidance and counseling may be in matters of spiritual, personal, family, job, or other nature.
