#AreWeReadyForHer #WillSheBringHomeTheirSecondCrown World second largest country, strong and free country ,known as the country who lives with and accept different nationalities. CANADA!!! Miss EARTH CANADA CYNTHIA LOEWEN Age: 20 Height: 173 cm Measurements: 34-24-36 I am honoured to compete in a pageant that is viewed so highly throughout the world, and promotes a cause which is very dear to my heart. Describe your childhood growing years: I have always been very ambitious, including throughout my childhood. Growing up I was involved in a multitude of extra-curricular activities. I was enrolled in dance classes, singing lessons, and I was a part of a cheerleading team. I also played competitive ice hockey. As a child, I was always wiling to embark on new adventures. I loved the outdoors, and spent my summers camping across Canada with my family. I had the unique opportunity to visit many of Canadas great national parks, which is where my appreciation of nature began. What lessons did you learn from your childhood? From an early age I had learned to never give up on my aspirations. I also learned that if I wanted to achieve something, it was my responsibility to take the necessary steps to do so. Having always wanted to succeed academically, as a child I began to put a lot of effort into my school work. I learned how to properly listen in class, and how to remain in tune with my own learning style. Most importantly, I learned how to accept downfall in a positive manner and to keep moving forward regardless of the circumstance. Having played competitive sports, I also learned the concept that success is not something that can be instantaneously brought about. Training my body physically and mentally in sports taught me that winning is the culminating point at the end of a long journey. Any special facts or story about your family? All members of my immediate family, including myself, work or volunteer with the disabled. Throughout the past 6 years, I have volunteered with Autism Ontario and Autism Services Ontario, as an activity leader and a fundraising organizer. In addition, I am a part-time cognitive and physical rehabilitation therapy assistant, for a patient suffering with memory loss. My mother has taught those with special needs for over ten years, and my father is a prosthetist (fabricates artificial limbs for those in need). In addition, my immediate family encompasses a “national mix” of our country. My mother comes from the province of Quebec, and my father was born in Alberta and raised in British-Columbia. I was born in the middle – the province of Ontario. What is the most unusual thing you have ever done? When I began to play ice hockey in my childhood, I wanted to play on the same team as my brother. This meant that I had to play on a team where a majority of my teammates and opponents were boys. To others this may have seemed bizarre, however remains one of the best experiences of my life. What is your most memorable moment? My most memorable moment thus far was winning the title of Miss Earth Canada 2014. Having pursued a degree in biology with a focus on ecology/conservation and having founded my own environmental initiatives, I am humbled that my hard work has paid off and that I have now been granted this opportunity. What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this? My environmental advocacy centres around the concept of paralleled international environmental progress and policy as prescribed by the United Nations Environment Programme. I believe that in order to achieve maximum result, all countries must commit to putting forth equal effort in the fight against environmental decay. Changes in environmental education, infrastructure, and resource protection must occur in every country. Healthy progress will never reached if we do not commit to the same goals. Having founded my own bilingual Green Education program for school aged children, worked as a leader in the Pink Goes Green movement of Delta Zeta International, met with several political figures, and worked with North American organizations such as WWF, I have witnessed the positive change that can come about from environmental dedication. All countries must help each other in program development projects and implementation. What can you promote about your country? I am proud to note that my country revolutionized environmental progress several decades ago. Canada was the 2nd country in the world to implement a Ministry of the Environment as an integral part in government practice in 1971, was the birth place of the “Greenpeace” organization, and was the first country in the world to implement a curbside blue-box recycling program in a major municipality. What trivia about yourself would like to share? I am an extremely determined person. This has helped me tremendously in my studies. I currently hold three scholarships at the University of Windsor, am on the Deans List at this school, and am planning to pursue further education beyond my Bachelors degree in the future. I have always considered myself a “champion of change”, a philanthropist at heart, and a born leader. I have always sought to improve my surrounding circumstance for the benefit of others. I have used my creativity and passion for helping others to create several movements and organizations that embody this vision. missearth.tv/delegates.php
