Aregbesola is politically witty and sound, says Babatope Daily Independent Newspapers Former Minister of Transport and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ebenezer Babatope, on Tuesday saluted the political prowess of Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, whom he described as “politically witty and sound”. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Daily Independent, Babatope, who campaigned vigorously for the PDP candidate, Iyiola Omisore, in the just concluded governorship election in Osun State, said the PDP prepared very well for the election but was caught off guard by the manipulation of the APC. While commending the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Babatope said the “PDP is now armed with facts of how APC rigged the election”, adding that these facts will be presented at the tribunal. “We had the election in Osun and INEC announced that APC won. We in the PDP are challenging the outcome of the election in the tribunal. “But that said and done, I have been a very fervent supporter of INEC, despite what happened in Osun State, I will not now say that I did not respect INEC. “They did very well to the best of their ability. “But we are dealing with a political party, particularly its candidate, Aregbesola, who, whether you like it or not, you must concede the fact that the boy is politically witty and politically sound. “So, apparently, they caught us off balance in some areas. But when we get to the tribunal, we will spell these areas out and tell the world what actually happened in the election. “It was something that even caught a man like me off guard. I am an organisational man, trained by Chief Awolowo. But the election in Osun caught me off balance,” Babatope said.
