Aregbesola no threat to my senatorial bid – PDP candidate osundefender.org/?p=205326 The Peoples Democratic Party candidate in Osun East Senatorial District, Chief Francis Fadahunsi, has said that Governor Rauf Aregbesola cannot stop him from winning the February election. Fadahunsi said this at a press conference to herald his campaign in Osogbo on Monday. The PDP candidate is from the same senatorial district as Aregbesola but while the governor is from the ruling party Fadahunsi is from the opposition party. He said, “Incumbency is not a threat to me. Governor Rauf Aregbesola is my younger brother and he cannot stop me. What we are selling is personality; I don’t think he has the kind of influence I have in Ijesaland and in the whole of the senatorial district. “I have developed people and by the grace of God these are the people who will vote, so I am not bothered by his position as the governor. You will see what will happen in Ilesa, you will see the result in Obokun and other areas and even in Ife. The result will be a landslide victory in our favour.” Fadahunsi said that he would influence a bill which will ensure that agriculture development was made compulsory to ensure food security and create jobs for the youths. He stated that the nation ought to have used part of the fund it realized from crude oil to further develop agriculture, saying the impact of the steady fall of oil price would not have been badly felt by states. The PDP candidate, who is a retired Deputy Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service said that cocoa, kola nuts, cashew and palm tree could be turned into another goldmine if properly developed. Fadahunsi debunked the claim that the PDP governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore, was against his candidature. He explained that Omisore was neutral because he was a respectable party leader. He added that the governorship candidate held three reconciliation meeting to unite aggrieved members of the party especially from the Osun East Senatorial District.
