The Orange County Grand Jury reported that Anaheim has the biggest unfunded pension obligation owed to it current and former employees compared to any other city in the OC. Of course, the jig is simple to understand. Rather than have Anaheims resort money going to building up the community and its residents, Anaheim employee unions have supported candidates for city office who kick-back nice raises and benefits throughout the years. While everybody wants to pay its city employees above livable wages and provide a nice/healthy retirement living but these golden retirement parachutes, the 90% of pay retirement pensions, the ONE HUNDRED thousand plus annual retirements are simply unsustainable for Anaheim. Perhaps it is kind of human nature for many to increasingly ask for more than they need but those who have benefitted from these types of past deals need to understand that reducing services or increasing the cost of services to the residents is not right. If anything, we should be expanding services to the residents of Anaheim. We need to elect city council candidates who are willing to say no to special interests groups involved in gaining more money from the city and say yes to the residents of Anaheim.
