Arlington, TX: Ok, I am not one to complain about the care that a shelter gives to the animals, but I will say that Arlington is usually always full....seriously full. This is not their fault, it is the fault of irresponsible pet owners, etc. BUT, having said that, Arlington tends to get a bad rep for being a high kill shelter. Well, do the math....tons of animals in every day and only a few out per week....doesnt equal much security for these guys. Now, in my rescue sharing life,I have started building relationships that I never thought I would have. I have people from Wisconsin who tag me in posts because they know I will do all I can. So, if you ever wanted to help shelter animals, just start sharing! Pick a breed to keep it easier to control, and then share, share, share!! My breed, is the Boxer. The loving, goofy, funny, crazy, totally loyal, great with kids, super sweet, and absolutely gorgeous BOXER. It seriously hurts me to think of how many of these total goofballs end up in shelters, and even worse. So, I do my best. My best is to share with you. This sweet girl is about a year and a half old, listed as a mix, she desperately needs out of the shelter. Many breeds are known for not doing well in the shelter environment (no matter how great the shelter is), the Boxer is one of them. They love their people. All you have to do is look at my page and see how often we are able to sit and relax without a lap full of pup!!!! Please share this sweet girl to find her a home! Sorry this was so long. I think I have just hit my breaking point with how horribly we treat our best friends. We simply must do better. The way I see it, we can help by one of the following: 1. Share the posts to your page (s)...simple and take no time or commitment at all, really! 2. Offer to transport in your local area. Youd be shocked to know how many pups (and cats) are put to sleep even though they have a foster, rescue, or adopter just 30 miles down the road...but no way to get them there by the VERY set-in-stone time that the animal MUST be out. The shelters have so many promises to come and get that they simply cant hold an animal on your word...its the old adage, actions speak louder than words. So, transporting them TO the interested party really does save lives. 3. Foster. We have so many wonderful rescues that do amazing things, but they cannot house all the animals they save. People must open their homes to help. Fostering can be short term (even as little as a few hours) to long term (until that baby finds a home), and everything in between. 4. Donate. If you cant do anything else, pick a breed, or pick a certain rescue group, and donate your heart out. Give money, give supplies, food, blankets, go walk the dogs, go pet them, maybe help train them...you name it, you can do it!!! THANK YOU for listening!! Feel free to join me in sharing shelter animals on my page, Sharing in Lewisville, TX ...maybe we can make a difference!
