Around 3 p.m. Saturday, a truck spilled its load across several lanes of the H-1 Freeway in the west bound direction, near Aiea Heights. Fire officials told KHON2 it was cement that spilled but, Police told us it was soil. It was a mess whatever it was. Only one lane of traffic was open while crews cleaned up the spill. All of the lanes, funneling down to one and at at times completely closing the freeway. Some people said they waited in traffic for more than two and a half hours. Alternate routes on the side streets didn’t look too great either. “It’s ridiculous! It’s this town though, what you gonna do? Cannot do nothing,” said one driver. “I just arrived in Honolulu. It’s my first day and I’m spending it in traffic,” said another. The spilled load covered about a quarter mile stretch of the freeway. Around 5 p.m., a second lane of traffic was re-opened. And two hours after that, at about 6:50 p.m. all lanes were re-opened
