Arrived at the Mexican Embassy in Quito, Ecuador a little before our appointment time of 10 A.M. Discovered that it was a herd appointment as there were about 35 others also there for their 10 oclock appointments. As frequently happens here, I was moved to the front of the line because of my grey hair. Another couple also moved up front. The group was told how to organize and arrange their papers and how to place them inside their visas. Someone collected all of the visas and papers from the herd but Dianes and mine, as well as the other older couple were collected first. Our names were soon called and an Embassy officer spent about 10-15 minutes interviewing us. He reviewed our documents and granted us a permanent resident visa on the spot. We pick it up this afternoon. Our Mexican resident cards will be provided in Mexico the week we arrive. This was a SNAP compared to Ecuadors process and Mexico places zero restrictions on our comings and goings..pletely unrestricted! And completed the same day we applied! Seems like this is one country who still welcomes immigrants. Sure glad they arent pissed!
