Arsenal must pay €50-60 million to sign Draxler The Star - TopicsExpress

Arsenal must pay €50-60 million to sign Draxler The Star reported last night that the Gunners had made a £24.7 million offer, with potential add-ons, which was a take it or leave it offer. Yet if a report from Germany is to believed, the Gunners would have to offer more than twice than initial fee to stand a chance of getting the 20-year-old this month. With a £37 million release clause in Draxlers contract able to activated in the summer, it makes sense only a bid substantially more, rather than less would tempt Schalke during the midst of a season with little time to bring in a replacement. A report in German newspaper Bild, written by lead journalist Alfred Draxler - no relation - claims a figure of 50 or 60 million Euros is the direction any bidding club should be making right now. He writes: The English newspaper Daily Mail claimed that the transfer was imminent ... But the truth is quite different. In this phase, selling the most valuable player, would be a fatal signal to the team and to the entire environment. Especially as the Champions League participation, which brings around €20 million guaranteed revenue after the group stage would unnecessarily put into risk. Schalke may be forced to do anything at the moment, until then, has the law of action in their own hands. Draxler remains... Unless: A great club even offers 50 or 60 million and you would be forced to new considerations. But that is probably unrealistic at the moment. It makes perfect sense from a footballing and financial perspective that Schalke would deny a deal now, regarding any offer that comes in below the summer release clause. While there are rumours Draxler is open to a move, publicly he has always maintained he wants to see the season out with Schalke, to give his World Cup chances a boost by guaranteeing he is at a club he will play regularly.
