Arthur Clarence Drebes of Golden, Illinois formerly of Palmyra, Missouri passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Timber Point Heathcare Center in Camp Point, Illinois. Arthur was born September 5, 1931 in Palmyra, Missouri to Julius Hermann and Hilda Amalie Caroline Bode Drebes. He was Baptized into Christ October 4, 1931 and Confirmed March 25, 1945 both at Zion Lutheran Church. Arthur was formerly married to Melba Louise Kaden. He was later married to Barbara Jean Kempf-Zeiger October 24, 1972 at Zion Lutheran Chuch in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives of the home in Golden, Illinois. Survivors include: children: Rev. Bryan (Cheryl) Drebes of Overland Park, KS; Christina (Nathan) Scholz of Green Bay, WI; Julie (Jeff) Sharrow of Golden, IL; Melanie Bradford of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren: Gage Dockery, Lauren Dockery, Julius Sharrow, Jayden Sharrow, Lily Sharrow, Grace Scholz, Bailey Scholz, Gabe Scholz and Ethan Scholz. He was preceded in death by his parents; and many loving cousins. Mr. Drebes was an Iron Foundry Worker and served at Gardner Denver in Quincy, Illinois for 11 years and Cooper Industries in LaGrange, Missouri for 25 years before his retirement in 1993. He was a 1949 graduate of Palmyra High School. Mr. Drebes was a Army Veteran of the Korean War. His wartime service, from 1952-1954, included stations in South Korea and Japan. Arthur was a member of the Boots-Dickson American Legion Post #174 and the Norfolk-Smith VFW Post #11041 both in Palmyra. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra. Rev. David Johnson and Rev. Bryan Drebes will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m.Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church. Casket Bearers: Bill Lantz, Dean Drebes, Bob Schreiner, Paul Frankenbach, Jerry Schoenborn and Aaron Drebes.
