This was stated by Dr. Kamal Sharma, President, Artists Welfare Association (AWA) while chairing an executive body meet of the Association, here today. Speaking during the meeting, Dr Sharma extended full support to the protest held by the members of Doordarshan Approved Drama Artists Association (DADAA) yesterday, against the apathetic attitude of the Doordarshan authorities towards Dogri language. He further said that the Government and other authorities are very much indifferent towards the development and conservation of Dogri, due to which younger generations lack interest in speaking Dogri. He urged upon all the organizations and NGOs working for the development of Dogri, to launch a joint revolution for saving the dignity of Dogri. Prominent members of the association present during the meeting included, Dr Baljeet Raina, Neelam Phull and Sudhir Mahajan. It may be mentioned that Doordarshan Approved Drama Artists Association (DADA) held protest against DD over disregard of Dogri on Wedenesday in Jammu. Showing their great resentment against the ignorance of Dogri language by the Doordarshan (DD) Jammu, the members of Doordarshan Approved Drama Artists Association (DADA) held a protest demonstration at the side lines of a function being organized by the Doordarshan Jammu in which Dogri was completely ignored. The musical function titled ‘Aao Pehchan Banay’ was organized at Police Auditorium Jammu by the DD in which J&K legislative assembly speaker Mubarak Gul was the chief guest in which songs in various languages including Hindi, Urdu Punjabi etc were sang by the singers except the Dogri despite of repeated requests, the members of DADA raised their voice against this disregard of Dogri, outside the auditorium. The member shouted slogans against DD and alleged that despite of receiving funding for the promotion of the Dogri language; DD is deliberately ignoring it due to unknown reasons. While briefing to media members DADA uttered that even the budding singer of the state Anmol Jaiswal who had to get felicitated there was also requested to sing a Dogri song but to no avail, aggrieved over which they held a protest there. DADA warned that if the DD will not restrain itself from disregarding the Dogri language then they will start a struggle against the DD exposing its misdeeds and nefarious intentions, responsibility of which would be of the DD authorities.
