As Australia mourns the tragic loss of two innocent bystanders in a senseless attack at a Sydney coffee shop yesterday morning, I was touched incredibly by the heartache and loss of two precious souls in the Wrong place at the Wrong time. To everyone who knew and loved them, I share this poem in their Honour......... How do you say Goodbye How do you say goodbye To the loved one of your life How do you carry on Through the heartache and the strife No words, no explanation Will ever bring them back And you feel that you will never Get your life back on its track Your eyes, they hurt from crying Your heart, feels like its breaking And every piece of you that loves them so Is now sore and hurt and aching There is no magic potion No bandaid for the pain No silver lining to be seen No sunshine through the rain Your questions will be many Your answers will be few And all there is to do right now Is what they would want from you To live your life now to its fullest To honor them in every day Let the smile upon your face Be the way for you to say.. Although I cannot touch you now I feel you by my side This smile comes when I think of you And fills my heart with pride I wish that you were here right now But I never would replace The love we shared together When we were standing face to face All you ever wanted for me Was happiness and love And I will do my best to honor this As you watch from up above The connection you have shared Is still as strong now as before Dont let your pain diminish A love that touched you to the core See the sunrise and the sunset As Good morning and Goodnight From your loved one looking onwards From their home now out off sight See the rustling leaves and waving grass As notions that theyre there Looking over you with loving eyes With sincerity and heartfelt care Take each day, as it comes Call upon them if you need A heart that loved so well Will have to have some time to bleed Be strong if you feel you need to Or cry out till your hearts content The you you are is who they loved And any path you choose is meant There is no magic potion No shortcut back to normal So see the pain as a special sign Of a love so precious, true, non formal Your path now, it is up to you As time will help the healing start But to honor your loved one, continue to live Like you loved them so, with an Open Heart Guy McLean October 2013.
