When I think back to all the times I made any loud noise Or just any exuberant exclaim It was likely I was in a crowd cheering As we watched an exciting competitive game I may have screamed and shouted one teams praises For an impossible tackle, throw, or catch Or stood amazed when my favorite basketball player Put the ball around his back, under his legs and slam dunked it through the net! I know Ive frolicked silly with friends and family When championships were hard fought and won I danced the funky chicken dance too Mockingly in a game winning touch down taunt! Ive shouted with the best of them, yes Even when heros came home from war Ive stood puming my fist in the air with much pride Discovering Black is beautiful during civil rights era! But when I came to know Jesus Christ for myself And all that Hes done for me How God sent His son on my behalf And over death, claimed my victory Did I think to say Thank You Father? Did I even wave my hand? Did I shout Glory Hallelujah!? Did I even fully comprehend? That in all the times past Ive been caught up And emotions seemed to burst from my seams Have I ever conceived of the height of awakening By knowing that Ive been fully redeemed!? Saved from the wrath of sins wages A fallen woman, destined for an eternity in Hell Gods deliverance of grace and mercy freed me Should have then generated some emotion in me as well Today, I can give proudly the Lord a whoop-whoop just because! I can dance and shout a victorous praise! I can throw my hands up and say Yes, Jesus I love you!! Just for allowing me to see another day! As I imagine my most sincerest and highest form of adoration For Gods every blessing, small to great Psalms 100 tells me exactly how I am to exalt Him Singing songs of thanksgiving as I enter His gates!
