As I commented on the article: Mr. Matheny clearly does not grasp even the most basic definition of democracy, but this is par for the course from someone whod rather pretend city council is a corporate board than advocate for ordinary residents. That said, many thanks are due to the five council members who voted for Greensboro to become first in the south tonight, and who determined that showing faith in their constituents was more important than slick doubts, and moronic posturing. With PB Greensboro becomes a little more transparent, especially with regards to where residents tax dollars go. And truly a shame that our mayor, who ran on a platform of greater transparency, would vote with folks like Mr. Matheny in denying a more open and transparent process for budgeting. Five city council members, representing a real swathe of our citys diversity, voted to put Greensboro on the map tonight. Thats worth celebrating, even if the margin of victory should have been much larger.
