As I enjoy the 90+ degree weather on this November 12, I think - TopicsExpress

As I enjoy the 90+ degree weather on this November 12, I think back on a piece by Art Laffer that was published in Sundays UT titled, Higher Taxes Dont Mean a Better Life and think how true his words are. I have a life I LOVE here in CA-great friends, a nice house, fantastic weather.........a LOT. And yet, like Laffer, Ill probably leave, as 4 MILLION Middle and UPPER Middle Class California residents have. The things that make up my perfect life are the result of my hard work, and nature. Government has nothing to do with it. No, they make it HARDER for me to enjoy that life by taking from me and giving to others so THEY can enjoy it too....even though they do nothing to EARN it. Laffer chose Nashville-a town I LOVE and in which I have enjoyed some GOOD times. It gets muggy in the Summer and a bit cool in the Winter, but it aint Minnesota! I would be more inclined to gravitate towards Austin, TX, or my hometown of Charleston, SC. If you think either is a backwater town, then you need to do your research........you are WRONG! Austin has taken the Music city mantel from Nashville; as the home of the U of T, it has GREAT offerings in theater, art, history......! The suburban Hill and Lake Country provide beautiful home sites. Heres the kicker....there are LOTS of good paying, high tech jobs attracting young people from New York to California! Charleston was just voted The Best City in the World by Conde Nast Travelers magazine for the SECOND straight year. Travel and Leisure voted it #1 in the country and # 5 in the World. I can enjoy the lifestyle I have here for a FRACTION of the cost and stand a better chance of FINDING a job. My liberal friends who are producers need to ask yourselves how long you are willing to put up with substandard schools. rising crime (thanks to Jerrys Kids), deteriorating infrastructure, and Unionized Public Employees, elected officials and their staffs living a BETTER life than you, while providing little or nothing! The CA legislature just passed a bill giving tax breaks to the HUGELY Liberal Film Industry. How many of YOU benefit from those??? Why dont we take 50% of the money paid to professional athletes who just hit, throw, catch, or kick a ball?????? You all want to limit the income of those horrible corporations who employ MILLIONS, produce products people need and want, and whose funding has led to many breakthrough discoveries in medicine. Be careful what you wish for.....you MAY...and probably WILL get it! utsandiego/news/2013/nov/09/fixing-california-higher-taxes-dont-mean-a-better/
