As I face this day, I do not know what to say to any of you. I am so honored to have been Phils mother and equally honored to be right by his side as he went to the open arms of our Lord. I am overwhelmed at the amount of support we had during his passing to Heaven! Many close friends of mine and of Phils, along with beloved family members...His Dad, Jimmy, his stepmother Bettie. Michael Daniel, I dont know what to say to you or Dempsey!!Linda Corley Edwards, Coco Tuggle Peisner, Ginny and Nelda! You were like my angels during this surreal time. The amazing and unbelievably loving and caring staff at Presbyterian Plano! Today will be harder and I know it as Jimmy and I begin to get things settled at Phils home. In fact, after he passed away, thats exactly where we wanted to go.....Phils home. Complete solace and serenity in his backyard. He has the most beautiful flower gardens, which was his true love. Digging in the dirt and drawing diagrams of gardens....I know he is drawing diagrams for God now and beginning to plant those flowers for everyone in heaven. But, now he can do that in perfect health and never tire out and he is preparing one for all of his loved ones to admire someday when we meet him again. We will love him beyond imagination always and forever and will miss him so terribly, but he was tired and was ready to meet Jesus! Like my granddaughter Sarah Sparks Schwartz said to me yesterday...Nana, he WON his battle. He has met Jesus! Yes, he battled his illness for over 24 years, which is a major accomplishment and at times completely shocked medical staff when he lived through a crisis! That is why he was nicknamed our MIRACLE MAN! So so blessed to know this young man was my sweet beautiful son. Had an amazing will to beat the odds, and he did so many times. As one of his friends Tarene Lancaster put it to me the other day, if you told Phil he couldnt do something....he was out to prove you wrong! All the comments about Phil from all of you have been so comforting and I will continue to read and read again all of them from time to time. Phil wasnt on facebook and I am speechless at the outpouring from friends in his school days, friends of his now, and friends of mine and Jimmys that are lifting us up in prayer to have the power to face each day without his earthly body. But Phil will live in our hearts forever and one day maybe the hole that is there now, will not be hurt so bad!
