As I look at some of the wishes that were granted to kids with life-threatening illnesses late last year, I think some of them had pretty big dreams: meet Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, throw the first pitch at a Boston Red Sox game, etc. There was one I should have been in charge of arranging - getting a tattoo by Kat Von D - heck, me & the kid BOTH could have gotten our wishes granted! LOL. But then there were other wishes that seemed so minute given the gravity of the situation: an iPad, a king-sized bed, a drum set, & getting their bedroom redecorated. And then there were the wishes that made me smile, like the kids who wanted to go to Disney World (of course, why not visit the happiest place on earth)?! :-) From what I learned tonight, I will be personally visiting & interacting with these kids, asking questions to understand their wishes, delivering the good news when the wishes have been totally arranged, and sometimes even accompanying them or being present while their wish is being granted (uh, can I get a kid that wants to meet Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt)?! LOL. But in all seriousness, I cant imagine volunteer work any more rewarding or fulfilling than helping to make the wishes of a terminally-ill child come true. As busy as my life is, Im glad I took the time to sign up for this & go to the training. Im really looking forward to being a Wish Granter! :-)
