As I look through the FB posts, so many dedicated to Mr Landsberry and his heroic actions, I cannot help but think, There were two people who died yesterday in that school shooting, not just one. Somewhere outside my window there may be a grieving mother, who is probably wondering where she went wrong. Her mind is probably a mess of memories coming through in a halting parade of emotions. She might be sifting through the past to try to make sense of the present, imagining in her guilt that she should have seen the signs. Somewhere on the other side of my front yard may be a grieving father, who might be wondering where he went wrong. Was he too hard on the kid, or not hard enough? He may be seeing these same posts about how Mr Landsberry is a superhero, and wondering how his son became a villain. The familys likely going through the coulda-shoulda-wouldas and other stages of grief. I hope they also get the support they need and deserve. They lost a son.
