As I reflect tonight while lying in bed, I think of how lucky and blessed I am. Four months ago, when Robert told me he was going to help coach baseball, I was not at all happy about it! I, for one, did not like baseball because it was boring, and why would he want to help coach a sport he had never played and knew nothing about! Not to mention, that he would be home less than what he already was. Yes, I am a very selfish person, and I enjoy having him around! I expressed my opinions with him, and nonetheless, his mind was made up! My opinions were so wrong! He was able to make some great friends in Shawn Hall, Travis Jones, and Justin Arms. He may not have been home much during the week, but I enjoyed going to home games during the week and on the weekends watching him coach and getting to hang out with all the great parents of some really great boys! This led to us starting a new much needed tradition at our house on Sundays. Sundays became a time we intentionally spent as a family and he and I would spend time together on Sunday nights! So I guess I would have to say that the game I once thought boring has grown our relationship and made it stronger! Do I still think it is boring? Absolutely not! These past few games have proved to be very exciting! I have enjoyed talking to the baseball boys at school and getting to know them, and have made some wonderful friends in the parents and with Angie Hall. Thank you to those parents who helped me understand the game a little bit better and thank you to Coach Robert Younce for showing me that I dont always know best! Its been a great ride and Im hoping we get to continue on the journey for a few more games! Wouldnt it be great to bring home a state championship? Have I mentioned that I also work in the best school in the state if Kentucky. We have brought home seven athletic regional title and one regional academic title. How many schools do you know that get to go to state eight times in different sports and academics? Its been a great year!
